DESCRIPTION
The Poas Volcano is an active stratovolcano measuring in at 8,881ft (2,708m), with its largest crater at 4,330ft(1320m) wide and a depth of 1,049ft(320m). Poas is one of the most visited volcanoes in Costa Rica. It has erupted about 40 times since 1828, including April 2017 and August 2019. Live activity includes consistency of gasses, volcanic ash, and sediment ponds.
Following the volcano climb, we venture off into the waterfall gardens of La Paz, with its various platforms capturing spectacular overviews of 5 waterfall cascades along a steep canyon accessed by rail-guarded hiking trails.
